We offer permanent and respite care to Residents who are Frail, Elderly or those who have Dementia Care needs.

Social Events

Our activities leader will organise social events for you to enjoy.  

Meal Times/ Snacks

At St. James’ we place great emphasis on nutritious, well presented food to meet a wide range of home cooking using fresh produce.  Analysis of our menu is carried out to ensure that they are nutritionally balanced and special diets are catered for.
 
Although meals are served to suit the convenience of our Residents and can be served in the privacy of bedrooms or at a table in our dining rooms, below is an estimate of times meals will be served:
 
Breakfast – 9.30am-10.30am 
Morning Tea/Coffee – 11.00am-11.30am 
Lunch – 1.00pm-1.30pm
Afternoon Tea – 3pm
Evening meal – 5.00pm – 5.30pm
Supper – 7pm
Late supper - 9pm – 10pm
 
We attempt to accommodate all likes and dislikes and will endeavour to attend to any specifie dietary requirements.  All tray bakes and scones are baked in-house.

Salon

Our hairdresser visits the Home two days a week. Each Resident is responsible for the cost of hairdressing.

Clergy

Clergy are welcome at any time at St. James’.  If you wish to contact your priest/minister/rabbi please so not hesitate to ask.

Physio

Physiotherapy, if required, will be organised by the nurse in charge via your GP.

Chiropody

A chiropodist employed by the Health Board visits St. James’ approximately 3 monthly, however Residents are welcome to arrange a private chiropodist to visit the Home at their own expense.

Optician/ Dentist

You will be visited by a dentist/ optician annually or more frequently if required.

Doctor

Your own doctor can continue to care for you within the Home as necessary, including Home visits.  If however, you have moved outside your GP’s area, it may become necessary to register with another doctor.  This will be fully discussed with you, if required.

TV

Each bedroom is fitted with a television point for you to use, if you wish.

Smoking

To preserve the safety of all Residents and compliance with safety regulations smoking is only allowed in designated areas within the Home.
